My daughter is diabetic. She was diagnosed when she was 18 months old. She is 11 now and she hates it. She sneaks snacks and I now lock them up. Being the parent of a diabetic is one of the hardest jobs any one can have. It is very challenging, and stressful. Good luck to you and your HA1C. God Bless You Sweety.

My dad and sister are diabetics. My dad is type 1 and my sister is type 2. I thought once that I was diabetic because for a whole week, I was dehydrated and my urine was like a darkish yellow but I found out a week later that I am fine...it could've been the Benadryl that I was taking because I had hives the week before.

I work in a pharmacy and i'd say more than 1/2 of the patients have some form of diabetes, most of them though have type 2 which is associated with old age, obesity and family history.

My little brother (13) is diabetic and has had this illness since he was 8. It's a terrible thing to say but we got used to it: just as people get used to anything. He is a great boy, into sports, bright and very kind. It is unfair that the best of us are the most unfortunate, don't you think?

My 3 year old son was diagnosed with type 1 in Janurary of this year and except for his nurse at school who is also type 1 we've never met any other diabetics that we know of.

I am. I was gestational diabetic when I was pregnant with my daughter, and later was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. I've had it for 4 years now and recently had to add insulin to my regimen. Its tough to get used to, especially when my family are "sweets freaks" but I manage. Good luck managing yours!

I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant but I do know a couple of people who are diabetic. I know gestational is completely different than Type I or Type II.

My granny was diabetic. She lived to be 92 and had 12 children. Do you need to know something about diabetes? I also have a friend who was diabetic. He didn't take care of himself tho and died at age 39 after losing one of his legs to diabetes. Take good care of yourself and you'll be fine.
