I'm on the "Company Christmas Party Committee" at work and it's my responsibility to come up with ideas for entertainment. And quite honestly, I have no idea what to suggest.

I've browsed on Yahoo and Google, and I'm still absolutely clueless about what sort of activities to suggest. For the past 2 years we've done trivia, and we definitely want to avoid doing that again this year (or anything too similiar).

The party will have roughly 40-55 total guests, separated between 6-8 tables (if that's helpful), but the potential activities can be
focused on either teams/groups OR individual participation. We want something appropriate (humor is fine, just something appropriate).

Potential activities should also not be very physical. We'll be having a sit-down dinner and will be conducting the event afterwards. Potential activities should last between about 1-3 hours.

Hire a professional BallRoom dance couple. They would come in and perform (entertainment) and then could show people how to do steps for a couple of minutes each (interactive). Those who don't want to participate can still watch and it should still be fun for them.

We have a great family reunion/Christmas party every year with about 50 people & have a blast!! Rent a karaoke machine & let everyone show their hidden talent! Also, you could play "Chinese Christmas" - set a limit ( we use $10.00 ) & each guest bring a gift ( fleece throws, flashlights, candles, bath & body lotions, etc.) Everyone draws a number & goes in turn ( 1, 2, 3, etc.) picking an unopened gift. After opening what gift they chose the person can either keep the surprise or trade it to someone who has gone before them. At the very end, # 1 gets to chose whether to keep what they first ended up with or pick from anything else that has been received. It's so funny to watch grown men fight over tools, or whatever has been decided as the "best" item......That way noone gets offended by anything too risque.......Have fun!!

How about a gift exchange. Set a fixed amount - say $20.00 - and have each employee bring a gift for their sex. That way you cover everyone. Call names at random & let them pick a gift & open it - even one that has been taken! It gets crazy as people "steal" from each other! The last name to be called is the one who picks last & it is over. This is always a hit. You can divide it into 2 groups as there is such a large group.

I feel really sorry for you! No, not really. I have done company Christmas parties. I usually ask around to get some suggestions from people at work to see what they enjoy. You cannot please everyone, but narrow it down to a couple of good ideas and poll them again. Hope you have fun. That's the main idea. Be sure you can enjoy the party and not be tied up making everyone else happy. Good luck.

Everyone buys one gift.No more then 20 dollars.Noone puts there name on the present they put them in a pile in the middle of the fllor ,everyone sits in a circle.Starting with the first person. They pick a present and open it.If they don't like it they pass it to the next person and he or she gets to open one more.then the next person turn if they don't like the gift they pass it on and get to open a next one then they have to keep it.Then the next person decides if they like that gift or pass it so they pass and do the same thing .That goes until the last person. Now when you get to the last person the he gets to pick what gift he wants if he doesn't like what he got stuck with.he looks around the circle and whoever he picks has to trade gifts and thats the end of the game. You can also extend the game by after the last person picks what he wants then let the next person beside him do the same until you get around the circle to the last person and then thats the end.

Dirty Santa is great. It will cover a couple of hours and every one has a great time doing it. You can google it for actual rules if you aren't familiar with it.

First we all got shnockered and played dirty santa, which is just TOO fun. Then we played with the rented karaoke (sp) set up. So much fun.

How about a 'dirty santa' game? We had it at our office one year (appx. 50 employees) and it was so much fun. We played it as everyone was sitted to eat so they could eat and watch and play at the same time.
