i'm doing some research for a blog, and would like to know what the official percentage of aids sufferers in the world. in fact, if there is a percentage in more developed countries, it would be better, as that would inform me about something.

obviously i'll need references to very reputable sources, not just religious websites, as religion can pick and choose what it wants to say to suit the message it's trying to get across.

thank you for your answers in advance, and i'll link you to the blog when i've finished it.

I am going to number my sources then give weblinks at the bottom. According to source 1, 75% of new infections in women are heterosexually transmitted (1). According to the CDC in 2004 47% of cases were men having sex with men and 33% were heterosexual contact (source 2, page 6) Hope this helps

The site I'm listing in the source has some information on a country-by-country basis. You should also try looking up HIV statistics (HIV or full-blown AIDS? Pick one and stick with it) for 'MSM', which is shorthand for 'men who have sex with men.' This is different than 'gay men' because many MSM will not consider themselves gay. I don't know if this will make a difference to you.

(Much of the information is in PDF format which I can't currently check, sorry.)

Disclaimer: AIDS is NOT a VIRUS; HIV is a VIRUS

HIV/AIDS Update: A Glance of the HIV Epidemic, Centers for Disease Controland Prevention (CDC).

The CDC has current numbers.

This site shows how HIV goes to AIDS.

I cannot give you an exact number, but it is the highest category for a fact. Chack out http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/stats/hasr1202/table17.htm for some facts and statistics that you can trust. Good luck with your blog!!
