Personally I think it is. I just got it when in close quarters with someone who had it. Meanwhile I get mixed reviews when I research the Internet. (see below) I think it is contagious.

"Bronchitis is extremely contagious; it can be contracted by coughing, sneezing, or through touching places that the infected person has touched."
http://www.surebaby.com/bronchitis.php

"Bronchitis is not contagious! When people near someone with a bronchial infection "catch" bronchitis themselves, it is probably because they have established the same conditions in their body that allowed their friend or loved one to become ill - but, most likely, they did not get their infection from another person. However, be considerate and cover your mouth when you cough. Bronchitis makes you cough - and coughs can carry contagious viruses and other organisms to people nearby."

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!

The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!

Bronchitis itself isn't, but sometimes the bacterial or viral infections that cause bronchitis can be contagious. Bronchitis can usually start from a cold or flu and then the infection speads and congestion settles in the chest.

Bronchitis is liquid in the lungs. And in order to get it you first must have had a cold. Like the mucus gets down into the lungs from a runny nose and a cough.

The bronchitis isn't contagious but your cold itself is.

No but the reason you got the bronchitis may be if still in the early stages (like cold).

This is an inflamation of the bronchial tubes. It happens many times when you keep coughing and have a non-productive cough. If you keep coughing you strain the tubes and they can get inflamed. Take cough drops or syrup. Catch your cold before it turns to bronchitis.

bronchitis can be caused by bacteria or viruses, so it definitely can be contagious to others! my cousin was hospitalized with bronchitis last year and he was put in quarantine in the hospital.

some kinds of bronchitis, like that caused by smoking, are not contagious, unless you count the secondhand smoke that others are breathing.

No. Colds and flu are, but not this because it is a higher stage of what you would already have if you got sick.
