I mean, if you have a blister and you rub against it and squeeze it, does it hurt or is it completely painless, as if squeezing a whitehead pimple?

The vesicles (or blisters) caused by herpes are considered painful. A painless "blister" may be a type of skin cancer, or a sign of syphillis.

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

A canker sore and a cold sore aren't the same thing so keep that in mind. Cold sores are caused by the Herpe Simplex 1 virus and genital herpes the Simplex 2 virus. However, the Simplex 1 can be transmitted to the genitals if contact is made, either orally or by touching the sore then the genitals.

Herpes blisters are painful until they scab over and heal. Under no circumstances should they be squeezed, since that spreads the virus around. The condition should be treated by a doctor since it's contageous.
