It can be really confusing with Mexican food, where the difference in what you call something might be the same ingredients, just mixed together and cooked in a different way.
A chimichanga is a deep-fried burrito.

The chimichanga is deep-fried.
There is debate over where the chimichanga originated. Some stories credit restaurants in Tucson or Macayo's in Phoenix, but other sources credit a restaurant in Northern Mexico, El Charrito, in Cuidad Jaurez, Chihuahua, with having it on their menu in 1929.
Forty-odd years ago, I went into a Mexican restaurant in Hawthorne, California, where I lived at the time. I ordered a burrito and what I got is what is now known as a chimichanga. Evidently, deep frying or not was a matter of preference and the usage of a different name for the deep-fried version took a while to become popular.

An enchilada is a tortilla rolled and stuffed with usually meat or cheese and topped with a chili sauce. A burrito is a tortilla wrapped around any filling (usually beef, beans, or cheese) and does not have sauce on top. And chimichangas are simply deep-fried burritos. Hope this helps.

Each time a order a chimichanga in different Mexican restaurants they are completely different. My favorite, up in Penna. is a big roll of shredded beef and peppers rolled in a big tortilla and covered with melted cheese.
Down in Tampa it's an open dish of all the ingredients. The tortilla is on the bottom.
In Tucson they were more like the Penna. ones, in the restaurant that I liked.
I still don't know what a chimichonga is supposed to look like, but I like them all.

enchilada is baked, chimichanga deep fried, burrito its just wrapped, chimichangas usually come drenched with red sauce! enchiladas can either be red or green depends what sauce you want, and burrito is more of a "plain" type thing filled with whatever, usually enchiladas have shredded beef, shredded pork or shredded chicken with cheese and sauce, chimichangas has beans, beef, chicken or pork. IM SOO HUNGRY NOW I LOVEEEEEEEE MEXICAN FOOODDDDD

A chimichanga has meat in it and is covered with cheese and lettuce and tomatoes it is a lot larger than a burrito....
At least at most Mexican restaurants thats how they are made...
I ordered one at the new Mexican restaurant here in town and all they brought out was this tiny burrito looking thing in the middle of this large plate....Nothing on it...
So I guess it is different at different restaurants..
