It's similar to a pomegranate I think. You eat the seeds. It is called a grenallia or something like that but how exactly do you spell it?

Punica granatumis the scientific name for the pomegranate, which is common in Peru and used in much of the cooking there.
The spanish translation for pomegranate is granada, though I'm not sure if Peruvian spanish may be a little different. Hope this helps.
