Garam Masala
(Hot spices)





Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 teaspoons whole black peppercorns
2 teaspoons cumin seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons coriander seeds
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
3/4 teaspoon whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon cardamom seeds (without pods)
1 stick cinnamon -- broken

Preheat oven to 275F degrees. Combine spices on pizza pan or cookies sheet;
bake for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

In a blender container place roasted spices; cover and blend to a fine
powder. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place. Makes about
1/4 cup.

Note: To make Homemade Garam Masala from ground spices, mix 1 tablespoon
ground coriander, 2 teaspoons black pepper, 2 teaspoons ground cardamom, 1
teaspoon ground cinnamon, and 1 teaspoon ground cloves. Makes about 1/4 cup.

NOTES : Garam Masala is an essential seasoning in the cuisine of Northern
India. The aromatic spices in this variable blend are those that the Indians
say heat the the body. Add it sparingly, ususally toward the end of cooking.
Through grinding your own garam masala gives the freshest flavor, you also
can purchase it at Asian markets or mix spices that are already ground.

I know I've mastered the ability to walk, talk and read. There's nothing much left to learn in these fields, and I can do it all with complete ease. Doesn't mean I never stub my toe, slur a few words, or stumble on a sentence now and then, but I've reached a point where it's completely causal. I'm not an olympic sprinter, or a public speaker, or a speed reader -- those are all entirely separate skills -- but what I learned is plenty to get through life. I never forget that the martial arts are called an art, whether or not that's an Eastern interpretation, but in the West this does have a purpose. An art couldn't be something you perfect. Music, painting and sculpting all have near limitless potential, but stages of development that you would have to "master" to get better. A black belt, as we've explained before on here, is about having a firm understanding of the fundamentals, or "All basic movements and techniques, can be applied with extended force and proper application in basic combination." The key words here would be "all basic movements and techniques" and "extended force and proper application". I would say there is a mastery of having LEARNED the requirements and KNOW how to put them to use, just not anything further from the basics. I think people go a little too far with the word, using it mostly erroneously, but the intent of comfortably and casually using what you've learned is what they're all implying. As for the martial arts as a whole, that I believe is impossible, especially as an art.

Garam masala is a mixture of Spices. widely used in India, in Hot vegetables. You can Substitute garam masala by Tandoori Chicken masala ot Mutton Masala.

Maybe you can find a subsitute.
Make sure you have tumeric. It's been found to prevent Alzheimers.

Garam Masala is blend of spices, and is available at many large grocery stores, as well as Asian specialty stores. If you can't find it, you can use curry powder instead.

Garam masala is a blend of dry-roasted ground spices common in Indian cuisine. There are many variants, most commercial garam masalas usually contain dried red chillis, fresh green chillis, garlic, ginger, sesame, mustard seeds, turmeric, coriander, cloves, black pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves, cumin, nutmeg, and fennel. One traditional mix uses equal quantities of cinnamon, clove, and black cardamom.

garam masala is a mix of diff spices. as the regions differ so will the blend of spices. some of the main spices in that masala are clove, bay leaf, cardamom pods, tumeric and saffron. i do believe you can leave it out of a recipe but its better not to.

its a spice
if you dont have it, dry roast equal amounts of whole cumin and whole black peppers and grind them finely and use tht as a substitute
dont keep it too long tho, the flavours of home ground spices do taste better but run out faster

It's readily available but you could mix allspice with the curry, too.
