When I do sports I get all wheezy, and my chest gets tight and I cough alot. I can never not breath it just make it real hard. I have never had a attack. Just sometimes when I get that way a inhaler would be nice. Would it be ok to use a friends before the class to see if it helps at all?

First of all, don't take your friends inhaler. Her medicine might not be right for you and could cause more problems then solutions.

Second of all, even though you've never had an attack doesn't mean you never will. You should see your doctor and tell him exactly what you told us. Usually, coughing, wheezing, and chest tightness while playing sports indicates asthma and it's dangerous to participate in such activities without an inhaler.

Hope this helps!

Curly top is right: not a good idea to use some Else's inhaler.
However I would liken it to drinking after someone Else it the following things are true...
1) if you are wheezing (bronchial constriction) , the inhaler you need is a (Front door or Rescue inhaler) the one Curly mentioned is the Rescue inhaler..It is Albuterol or also call Proventil , Ventolin...this is the most commonly prescribed and the cheapest...
2) If you are having a tough time breathing due to wheezing after exertion and , and you are really short of breath go ahead and use you friends inhaler as long as it is Albuterol, It is almost the same as sharing a Gatorade...((Better to not have a full blown bronchospasm that shuts you down)) ,,,Then get it seen about !
3) if this happens or has happened more than twice ayear...By all means see a doctor ...He can see just what you respiratoy issues are...A pulmonologist (lung doctor) would be ideal and now , they usually do not need a referal....But like I said ..If you are having real trouble...Use your friends ( rescue only) inhaler.... then go get it seen about...
Inhalers that will not give you immediate help are really worthless to you like...Serevent, Advair, Pulmicort, Flovent... great for use over time just not going to help you right away...

I agree with curly top just adding some gray to the black and white...

See your family Dr. or a pulmonologist! Let them prescribe an inhaler for you. It is important to be under a doctors care and have him prescribe your medication for you, your life can depend on it! You should never use someone else's inhaler as you could catch a respiratory illness from them and they are prescription medication. You are having an asthma attack when your chest gets tight you wheez and cough. People die from untreated asthma, but with treatment it can easily be controled.

You need to clear this with a doctor before you start start using an inhaler. Never use someone else's prescription drug. Not only is it unsafe to do so, it is also against the law. I strongly suggest that you seek treatment from an m.d. before you decide to use an inhaler. There is more than one type of inhalation meds on the market and your friend's may not be the one you should be using.

You sound just like my nine year old daughter. When she plays
soccer, she does the very same thing. Only she was tested for
Asthma and that's what you need to do. Go to a Allergist and he'll
test you. Go to like Baz and Allergy Center. Your not supposed
to use other people's inhaler. You can go to your local Pharmacist
and purchase over the counter and inhaler, just until you go see
a specialist. I too have Asthma and what your discribing is the same way I feel. My daughter and I both use Abuteral, Advair,
and take Singulair. Only her's is 100/50 and mine is 200/50
that will be Advair. Go have your self tested this way you can
get refills anytime you need it.

Not a good idea to use someone else's inhaler. You don't know if their inhaler may be the right strength for you. And it could be easy to pick up germs if the person is not careful in cleaning out their inhaler.

See your dr. You could have exercise induced asthma. It does exist and albuterol inhalers are one option to treat it.
