Ok so my doctor put me on famvir for 10 days. This was my inital outbreak and was kinda bad (I think). After i took the medicine it all went away but now the area that it was in still doesn't feel right. Just sore sometimes... almost a crampy feeling. It has been about a month since the outbreak has healed. Everything looks fine, no redness / bumps or anything. I was wondering if that was normal? Did I not get enough medicine? Will that always happen at the site of the outbreak? Is it nerve damage? WHATS GOING ON?!?!?!

First outbreak is always the worst (unless your immune system decides to crash later on). Are you sure it's HSV-1? if so, the chances of you having another genital outbreak are fairly low. HSV-1 can infect the genitals, but it doesn't do as well down there as up closer to your jaw. Therefore, it doesn't tend to break out repeatedly.

Herpes outbreaks can be accompanied by flu-like symptoms and achiness. Mention that you are having these symptoms to your doctor; it may indicate that you are still shedding virus at higher levels. In that case, more meds may be necessary. As for nerve damage, that is also a possibility, but that depends on just how severe your outbreak was.

That's not normal. You should not feel any different if the outbreak is totally healed. It is true that the first outbreak is always the worst, but even still 10 days on medication and it still feels sore is a problem. You should try Valtrax! Take it two times a day during an outbreak. Even though there is no visible signs, you could still be experiencing an outbreak. You are your bodies best judge...if it doesn't feel right it probably isn't...also consult another doctor.
Good Luck!

that's easily ridiculous! It would not count number regardless of if it were conceivable to take each and every of the blood out of his face because the herpes virus is lives contained in the bottom of your backbone. Herpes will stay with you for existence and by no skill is going away. There are 2 varieties of herpes: hsv-a million that typically impacts the mouth and lips and hsv-2 that's widely used to be genital herpes. both varieties of herpes will be stumbled on on both spot, face or genitals. thankfully, researchers have stumbled on that hsv-a million has a a lot less probability of reoccurance than hsv-2.

It just takes a really long time to heal. Just because the skin looks good doesn't mean the nerves have recoverd from the outbreak. Remember, Herpes lives in the nerves. Just take it easy until everything feels like yourself again.
