Well, that depends on many things, including the genetic makeup of the patient, the skill of the surgeon, the types of grafts used (arterial vs. venous) and a good helping of dumb luck.
In general, the arterial grafts (generally the left internal mammary artery, abbreviated LIMA and the right abbreviated RIMA) will last a lifetime, however, saphenous vein grafts will often close after 5 years or so. However, even if a graft closes, often a new operation will not be necessary if the body has formed an alternate network of blood vessels (called collateral vessels) in the meantime.

It depends on a number of factors. Firstly from where the graft was taken. The commonly used LIMA (left internal mammary artery) is the hardest wearing if the surgeon can safely use it for grafting. This can last for in excess of 20 years if the individual leads a healthy lifestyle and also if the heart tissue is in reasonable condition. Sometimes the heart tissue is friable and the grafts may not adhere solidly. However, the most commonly used saphenous veins from the legs and sometimes radial artery from an arm can last for a very long time. Many patients have to undergo a 're-do' a number of years following their original surgery.

If they use the mammary artery men have one but they don't need it it could last 15 to 20 years if you stay on diet and exercise I have a triple 10 year old but I am 50% block in two arteries and one of my grafts is totally occluded but still going the tech they have now far surpasses what the did in 1997 when I had mine not stopping the heart is a big advancement not counting the way the do everything now good luck and may it last you for as long as you need it
