Habanero - Scotch bonnet. An Afghani friend told me that the secret is in the way you cut a chilli and this seems to be the case. Cut some straight across and they are not very hot, cut them diagonally and they are fiery. This is not a myth, I've tried it. A British Indian presented me with a salad which included raw Kenyan chilli peppers. He said they weren't hot. I cut one in half, cut that half straight through and asked him to try it. I then cut the other half diagonally and asked him to try it. He had to admit that the second was much hotter.
Don't ask me why?

The other answerers are right that the Habanero or Scotch Bonnet are the hottest peppers grown. As far as Hot sauces, there are many choices. One spot I've found for a variety of Hot stuff is
www.asskickin.com. everything from sauces to nuts to margarita mix. Including 'Spontaneous Combustion', One of the hottest sauces, I've had the pleasure to sample.

Naga Jolokia peppers are the highest natural peppers on the Scoville scale (the measure of "hotness"). They can be found primarily in India.
