I recently tested positive for Herpes. I have told the girl I am currently with and things seem to be going well. I wonder, if this doesn't work out and I do start dating again, how far into the relationship before I should tell the new girl? I also posted this question at http://www.PositiveSingles.com. Hope I can get more better answers here.

Your partner should know before the two of you start getting physical. It is not fair for you not to tell your partner, but on the other hand it doesn't need to be brought up if it doesn't apply towards where the relationship is at (i.e. if it's a first date and there hasn't been any sexual contact). I'm glad that your current interest is taking it well... perhaps this can be the start of things to come.

you could have had it since your last partner as it can be asymptomatic for great periods. women under 25 are encouraged to check only annually. it may have just been out there. but if you know you have been faithful then you have nothing to worry about. if he doesnt trust you then thats his problem. if (and only if) you have been faithful then just say "I went to the doctor for a checkup and he prescribed antibiotics for an infection he found. its not serious but it is infectious and we cant have sex til it clears up. it is chlamidya which is an STD but its a low lying thing that can go ages without symptoms. I could have got it previously or you could have, but you should get checked anyway. we cant really do anything sexually till both of us have been cleared.

i would tell the person when you start getting serious. Before you have sex i think that would be a good time. good luck.

i'd tell them prior to things getting serious and before sex comes up....

the way i'd tell them? i'd ask them if they were aware that 95% of the worlds population has epstein barr.....and in that family (the flavivirus family) herpe's is one of them...and you are one of the unlucky individuals that trusted your ex and you so happened to catch it.

good luck.

You tell her right up front, you owe this to anyone you might infect. What kind of relationship do you think you can have built on deceit?
