Herpes is weird like that. Whether you have HSV1 or HSV2 it affects people differently. There are a few different triggers like certain foods for example chocolate or coffee. The sun also can be a trigger so keep your face covered. Also stress is a common factor or lack of sleep, anything that can run your immune system down. Some people are lucky and only ever get one coldsore and thats it. Everyone is different.

You probably have had it for a long time, how you got it i dont know but it can lay dorment in your system and then flare up. There are heaps of people out there who have it and dont even know.

The best thing you can do to prevent them is what you are already doing, eat well, sleep, exercise, keep your face covered from the sun and try not to stress out too much and you should be right ; )

Yes, there isn't any. Herpes is caused by a virus. Actually, there is little cure for viruses nowadays. The only thing that you can generally do in the case of a viral infection is strengthen the immune system and hope it fights it off. Not with Herpes, the immune system can't win against it. Thus you only get to treat the symptoms. Once you're infected, it stays with you for life. So don't get infected.

Personal experience. I have had genital herpes for over 5 years.

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes virus (type 2) about five yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a foolish one-night stand. I realize lots of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a huge mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for my entire life. The worst part was feeling I could never date men again. After all, who wants to go out with a girl that has sores around her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/7yjym everything improved.

Not only was I able to eliminate all traces of the herpes simplex virus from my system in less than three weeks, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the man of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just a week ago, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system gave me back the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

The herpes virus hides along the nerve stem, going down into the base during a calm period (hibernation?) whatever brings it up? is something no one knows about. When we have chicken pox as kids we become infected with the virus and it's with us forever.

Some people, for some reason get cold sores all the time. They have to run there course. It becomes red and itchy, swollen, than the blister, then the sore, it has to go through it's phase of healing.
You can ease the pain and the swelling, at least it works for me, with carmex or some other soothing lip balm. Good luck

The doctor is correct. If you have had cold sores for almost your entire life, then yes....you've had herpes simplex 1. NOT to be confused with herpes simplex 2--genital herpes.

Yes, you will always have herpes. It is just that at certain times it is inactive. Because you have a cold sore does not mean that, you have the STD form of it! U should also ask your doctor and visit webmd.com!

90% of the population is a b.s. statistic to make people who have herpes feel better. It is more like 28%. It doesn't show more in certain people, just some people have more public positions and get more outbreaks. Katie Couric gets them, and it's obvious when she does. You have probably always had it, you can get it from a mom or dad kissing you and they had it.

And WOW, misskate, you are soooooo helpful.
