You can, but you are contagious. It is best not to. You would want others to be responsible and not expose you to something they have. For example if a person has Hepatitis it would be that persons reposibility to inform their mate, because it is contagious. You can talk to your doctor about some meds. They do help the amount of breakouts.

I seem to remember this being brought up in a class i took. I believe that as long as you don't have a current outbreak, it's relatively safe. If you currently have eitehr in your mouth, I wouldn't risk it.
