A good friend of mine and my husbands, who is something of a fast food junkey, is always getting lectured by us and his other friends about it, which so we should, because we do NOT want to see him die somewhere in his fifties from heart disease. America is the ultimate "free enterprise" society, and that means anything you can offer for sale to the public that captures their interest (and often even their addiction) is going to make you some big money.
What is there out there that captures our interest, and our addiction, more effectively than FOOD? the manufacturers of our packaged and canned food items found that out a long time ago, and those big franchise "eateries" quickly realised that Fast Food translates into Fast Bucks..... by the sackful LOL. This friend of ours responds to our efforts to reform his terrible eating habits by jokingly saying "Yeah yeah, I know,, if it tastes good spit it out" Not true really. It is just a matter of retraining our tastebuds to appreciate the taste of healthy foods.
Americans are in the middle of an obesity epidemic because, unfortuntely those good-tasting "bad foods" do not lead to a recogniseable signal that something is wrong with us, until often several years down the road, by which time, we are already afflicted with diseases of the heart and circulation, diabetes, and a slew of other life-threatening conditions, many of which, by that time are irreversible.
So w e keep packing in the portions, and accumulating our fat deposits. Unfortunately, a lot o f food advertising is directed at our kids, and they have been loading up on the junkfood to the point where, today, doctors are actually discovering increasing cases of Type II diabetes in even children in their teens, not to mention early signs of arterial blockage and other heart diseases in the making.
I think a tide of awareness is sweeping over us at last, and even the fast food chains are "getting the message" and beginning to offer more sensible proportions, and healthier menu options. Not for nothing did somebody once describe the Big Mac as a "Heart Attack in a Sack", and somebody else once commented dryly that we were "digging our grave with our teeth".

Our canines gets 2 one hour walks an afternoon. She replaced into at present clinically determined with hypothyroid and had gained 10 lbs. We started her on the pills 6 weeks in the past and he or she lost 6 lbs interior the 1st month. Our cats consume grain loose top classification cat nutrition. Our male replaced into in basic terms on the vet on Monday. He weighs sixteen lbs yet he's no longer fat. he's in basic terms a great, sturdy boy. I certainly had no thought he weighed that a lot in any respect. Our vet in basic terms went nuts over him, she loves a tabby and he or she's so inspired with the reality that he replaced right into a feral stray and that we took him in (she's a sparkling vet to us and he or she LOVES cats). Our female will circulate in next. She is obese no remember how little nutrition she is given. She's all the way down to a million/8C of nutrition two times an afternoon. i'm in contact if I minimize her returned much extra that she would have the ability to be malnourished so she'll be off to the vet as quickly as her immunizations are due (next month).

Because they get next to no nutrition and eat mostly processed everything. Since I changed my diet, I am now appalled looking at people in front and behind me in the supermarket line.

Fat people on oxygen bottles, cart loaded with microwvae hot pockets, pizza, meats cheeses, white bread, etc, etc, and oh yeah, the obligitory 3 liter diet soda to wash it all down.

My cart = nothing but fresh produce. The check out girls are completely unfamiliar with produce and have to constantly ask me what's this, what's that ?

Laziness, extremely bad diet. Of course, I'm fat, so don't listen to me. But I have recently started reading about nutrition, and you would be amazed at how much of the food we eat, like, ALL the time is really just junk food. We should stop eating so much processed crap, and start eating more natural foods.

uh....they eat too much??
no seriously .... the proportions in american restaurants are ridiculous, overly saturated in fats and sugar....this is why they taste so good. plus we are very lazy and don't like to get off our butts and exercise much. we like to sit in front of our computers and watch tv. our life spans are sure to decrease because of it. certainly health care costs are rising because of it.
