you pay for what you get. vegetarian food in general is more healthy for you than meat flooded with hormones, killed brutally, and raised inhumanely.
Just think of it like this. For every year after 60, the avg person spends about 10k to live another year because of diabetes and heart disease. 60 bux is just a drop in that bucket.

I am a vegetarian and I almost never buy ready made vegetarian stuff cause it's too expensive. Rather I make my own vegetarian
foods. I do even a fake meat or fake burgers.
Some vegetarians won't even eat them cause they think it's symbolizing the eating of meat!
tofu used properly can make many interesting
dishes. If you like cooking experiment.. that's the fun of cooking! How do you think recipes get created in the first place? Can Pumpkin is also a good versatile food that many dishes can be made using it and other ingredients! Soya Sauce is another useful item! Also don't
forget Vegetarians need twice as much fruit a day than a meat eater!

I thought that when I first when veggie too. I LOVE Morningstar Farms and it's all I buy (well, that and Quorn). Regular price at my local Safeway is 3.99 for Morningstar products. Sounds pricey... but if you look at it, that's the same price as a pound of extra-lean hamburger in most cases.
I do try to stock up when it's on sale (usually 2/$7, but sometimes as cheap as 2/$6). Also, depending on how many people you're feeding, you don't have to use a whole package. I like to cut up chik'n patties or burgers into slices and put them over alfredo or salad or??? With the burger crumbles, use half a package instead of a whole package in your spaghetti sauce, etc.
Oh... btw. Yves makes some KILLER taco "meat"... it's also pricey but I've offered it to carnivores and they didn't know the difference!
Email me if you'd like to discuss meal options. I've found I eat a much larger variety of foods now that I'm veggie. I'd be happy to share!

They are expensive, but I think the prices are coming down. They are available almost everywhere now, so more competition = lower prices. You can find coupons for them sometimes in the Sunday newspaper or try going to their websites, they often have coupon offers.

Well maybe try shoping other places besides Ralphs. That place is expensive, even if ur jus buying a drink.
Try Wal-Mart or Sam's Club. They have good quantities of food for an excellent amount of price.
â¥Good luckâ¥

It's all marketing. If something is "popular" or a fad, stores charge more for it. Supply and demand - very simple. Stores know veggie products are popular and the buyers a bit fanatical, so they charge more.
I've started to notice some restaurants charging more for chicken than steak - they know so many people get chicken because it's healthy, so they can raise the price.
