I have an SVT and they told me if my heart rate starts getting fast again to bear down like having a bowel movement. This puts pressure on the vagus nerve and slows down the heart. Not sure what else, but I have to take a medicine. Good luck! =0)

The best way to help an anxiety attack is to breath. Slowing your breathing will also help your pulse get back to normal. Try a technique called "square breathing." Practice this before your next anxiety attack so that you can easily do it when you are anxious.
1. Imagine a four step by four step box that you are figuratively climbing up. As you "climb up" the four steps on the left side of the box breathe in and count to four.
2. As you "walk across" the top four steps of the box hold your breath for another count of four.
3. As you "climb down" the right side of the box breathe out to a count of four.
4. As you "walk across" the bottom of the box back to the left side, hold your breath for another count of four.
5. Repeat this a few times until it works.

If you can lay or sit down, close your eyes, use imagery/visualization, picture yourself on a warm sandy beach, think of the sound of waves crashing on the shore, take deep deep breaths, belly breathing of the fresh air. Breathe through your nose, exhale through your mouth and as you take the deep breath, pull your shoulders back and breathe deeply. You have to calm your body by breathing slow deep breaths and try to relax with the images in your mind.
