I have type II diabetes. The first time I checked it with a meter it was 315 and it was a few hrs after eating at night. That happened last week. This morning I checked first thing in the morning and it was 219. It scared me when I have not eaten a thing. I have been watching my diet very carefully. What do you think I should do, or how long should it take to come down to normal? I also had a headache this morning before I check it and my stomach was bothering me all day today.

Hello I'm Jessica and I'm a type 1 diabetic and have been for 13 years. I still go through that. Maybe your dosage isn't high enough. Or maybe you need a little more exercise. And as for the stomach aches and head aches that will happen quite often if your blood sugars remain that high. They will also get worse and more often.

Are you on any type of medication? With numbers like these you not only need to seriously curb your carbohydrate intake, but you need to be taking some oral meds And not eating is not good. If you are overweight that will also be a big factor in your glucose control.

To the people who simply recommend seeing your doctor.... HOGWASH! Most doctors don't know that much about caring for diabetes. There are a few exceptions and I've listed them on my webpage. You will be doing yourself a huge favor by learning as much as you can about it yourself. You'll find all kinds of helpful ideas for diabetics there:
