ok my doctor told me i have herpes type 1, i went to ask about it when i had a really bad coldsore. I have been getting them my WHOLE life i just wanted to be safe and have it checked out. After that i went to get a 2nd opinion ( i had a sore both times) and they said i diddnt have it , i am so confused. I usually get them on my upper lip once every few months and i can git rid of them within like 4 days. Does anyone know some good remedys or have advice?

First, coldsores are Herpes Simplex Type 1, not to be confused with a STD (venearal disease.) Although under a microscope both are identical, type one rarely turns into genital herpes. If you have coldsores you are not alone as about 70% of people have coldsores, which means they have herpes 1. There is no cure for herpes 1 or two but feel glad you dont have genital herpes.

I got identified with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about five yrs ago, when I was still in college and had a mindless one-night stand. Zovoirax cream is the best thing at the moment - you apply it as you get the tingling which happens just before the cold sore appears and it should stop you getting it.
It also makes your cold sore heal quicker if you apply it to an existing sore.
The best prevention is tomaintain a healthy immune system - eat lots of fruit and vegetables and maybe take a a-z multivitamin and mineral tablet.
There are not really that harmful - but they are quite contagious especially when you have a sore so you should not kiss your partner or have oral sex when you have one.
However the vast majority of the population carry the herpes virus but the majority of the population will never show visible symptoms.

Cold sores are a herpes virus and the only real way to tell is a blood test. Looking is not as accurate assessment. Have your doctor run the test and if it is type one, there are medicines to help control it.
Sometimes people do have a local reaction to some foods such as tomatoes and certain citrus fruits. All these require and good follow up by your doctor. One way to dry up and cold sore is camphophenique. Its in a green bottle and you apply it to the sore three times daily, and it dries it up.

Take the Vitman Lysine 500-1000 milligrams a day. This is fight the virus and cause less breakouts. Take up to 1500 milligrams when you feel one coming on and it will cause the breakout to last a shorter amount of time. The vitamin you can find anywhere, rite aid, walgreens, walmart, it's cheap, and it works!

I've found that my cold sores go away if I keep myself hydrated (with water) and I get plenty of rest. My sores usually appear if I get sick or very very stressed out. Try that, I know it's not the quick fix, but it works for me! Good luck. I know, they're annoying.

Sometimes you can get an outbreak from what you eat. Keep a diary of the food you eat and how soon after that a sore appears.
