I have genital herpes. My kids DO NOT have it. If they used the same bar of soap or sponge or even the same towel as me, could they get herpes?

No, i don't think they can get it like that. Because you actually have to get in contact with an open sore/blister. If you don't have an outbreak i think it'll be fine with your kids using the same soap, sponge and of course a towel. I am not a doctor or a nurse so i can't guarantee it but you should check with either one.

Transmission through these routes is fairly rare - But, yes, the possibility exists. They would have to have open sores and you would have to have an active outbreak or be experiencing your pre-outbreak tingle/itch/discomfort.

The virii can live only for 24-48 hours outside of a "host" under normal circumstances.

It is a possibility, especially if you are having a flare up. Just play it safe and have separate linens for you and separate ones for your children.
