EXERCISE is the best! Eating comes next (the proper foods) and 3rd comes medication.. you can found out exactly what you should eat and suggested exercises to help you by going on Yahoo health..cholesterol. and read about it..Your Dr. can give some Statins (pills) but they don't replace Exercise and proper diet they only aid in lower bad and increasing the good.. Female sex hormones raise HDL cholesterol levels If HDL is less than 40 mg/dL to increase it in the diet u should- 1) reduce the fat intake to 30 - 35% of the total calories in the diet - but probably no lower than 25% of total calories; 2) try to eliminate saturated fats and trans fats from the diet, and substitute monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats instead. 3)Losing weight (or maintaining a healthy weight) Being physically active for at least 30–60 minutes a day on most or all days of the week 4)-not smoking 5)- Add soluble fiber to your diet. Soluble fibers are found in oats, fruits, vegetables, and legumes, and result in both a reduction in LDL cholesterol and an increase HDL cholesterol. For best results, at least two servings a day should be used. 6)- not taking alcohol
