Salty sweat or sweating while sleeping may be associated with cystic fibrosis. If your question concerns an infant or young child, I would ask your doctor about CF as a possible cause.

It could be. Sometimes the body works up a fever trying to burn out the disease, but it doesn't sound like that from your question. It could be stress or too much body-weight to carry around.
