1. ASTHMA-tightened (bronchospasm) and inflammed airways filled with mucus..cause unknown

2.BRONCHITIS-fluid in lungs and a common cold...usually caused by viral or bacterial infection

3.CROUP- harsh, barking cough. Croup most often affects young children. It causes inflammation, swelling, and narrowing in the voice box larynx, trachea, and bronchial tubes that lead to the lungs....Most cases are caused by human parainfluenza viruses types I and II

4.TUBERCULOSIS-a common and deadly infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis

5. PLEURISY- also known as pleuritis, is an inflammation of the pleura, the lining of the pleural cavity surrounding the lungs, which can cause painful respiration and other symptoms. Pleurisy can be caused by a variety of infectious and non-infectious causes.

6. CYSTIC FIBROSIS-is a common hereditary disease that affects the entire body, causing progressive disability and early death. Difficulty breathing is the most common symptom and results from frequent lung infections, which are treated, though not always cured, by antibiotics and other medications. A multitude of other symptoms, including sinus infections, poor growth, diarrhea and infertility, result from the effects of CF on other parts of the body.

7. COPD (CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE) Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is comprised primarily of two related diseases - chronic bronchitis and emphysema. In both diseases, there is chronic obstruction of the flow of air through the airways and out of the lungs, and the obstruction generally is permanent and progressive over time.

Dont ask people to answer a homework problem you can easily solve by looking up respiratory system up on educational websites such as encarta. Just make sure the website has some sort of legitimacy.
