no, but the high sugar content isn't good for anyone...diabetes can be inherited, like mine is (type 2)...grandmother, mother, me, and now my daughter is borderline diabetic. my doc is also a diabetic...he claims there are 2 different viruses that can also cause diabetes. and i'm not buying the overweight thing causing type 2 diabetes anymore because my doc is treating 5 non-overweight ppl for type 2 diabetes. i also have some friends who are morbidly overweight, who do not have type 2 diabetes.
however, i think it's still important to eat a healthy diet though, so that means reducing the amount of sodas and other sweets you eat/drink. refined sugars are just not good for us.

NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!! Drinking Pepsi or Coke MOST definintely DOES NOT cause diabetes. My father has diabetes and he drinks Coke and Pepsi all of the time. He just finished drinking some a few minutes ago. Diabetes has to do with your blood sugar. My uncle has a soda drinking adiction, and he doesn't5 have it. It has everyting to do with your body, mussels, and blood. Make sure you exercise on a regular basis and be sure to eat plenty of salad and drink plenty of water. I should know this stuff, I'm going to be a doctor one day. Well I hope this was enough info for you.
Love, Kiki

yes!
soda is really bad for you, it takes the calcium out of your bones and the sugar content can differently cause you to become diabetic if you drink enough of it.
drink a glass of milk instead.
