Seems like every vegan I know is sick all the time. I woud think that would be an indication of malnutrition.

It is obvious that they are not getting a balanced diet, but we should let them figure it out for themselves.

Foxhunter guy - like any diet, the vegan diet needs to be balanced. Many vegans go into the diet with their heart in the right place but they aren't knowledgable enough on what they should eat to ensure a good quality of nutrients. If they eat a good supply the right foods, then they would be very healthy. It's pointless commenting about a few vegans that you know and making assumptions that they represent the entire vegan population. It's like saying all meat eaters are healthy! You know they're not, and there are other factors involved in whether or not someone remains healthy.

Remember that meat is rarely eaten in the East and guess what, do you see them all keeling over as a result of malnutrion? No, in fact here in the West we're probably a laughing stock with the amount of meat poeple eat and the amount of serious diseases we are riddled with.

I suggest a more open mind would be helpful to you. What's to stop you researching the vegan diet yourself, since you're so interested in putting it down? Then perhaps you might find some useful information out and it might well help your friends too.

If not being a vegan is healthy, then why are so many non-vegans sick?

Seems like every non-vegan I know gets sick sometimes. I would think that would be an indication of being a human being.

Well, of course not EVERY vegan is healthy. Yes, some vegans don't know how to balance their diet and don't eat healthy food. But all the vegans I know are pretty healthy. I myself am a vegan and I'm glad to say I'm never ever sick! I take a vegan multivitamin and I'm a lot healthier then I was before I became vegan :]

Don't forget that some people are vegan because they're sick to begin with, like being allergic to meat proteins.

To be fair I've known vegans who are healthier than me, but they made absolutely sure that their diet was varied and full of all the nutrients they needed.

Take the average meat-eater in this country and see if they have as varied a diet. See if they can even cook, that's more to the point. Find out why these vegans became vegan, and find out if they cook their meals themselves or expect some ready-meal producer to feed them. There'll be your answer.

Andielep...that is the funniest thing i read for ages, thanks !

Right, back to the question...

The only vegan you talk about is your mother-in-law, i guess that counts as "every vegan you know"

Its not an indication of malnutrition, she's probably lost the wil to live when she saw what her daught brought home.

Doesn't the constant hatred you generate tell you anything about yourself ?

Does the long line fo suppliments in the supermarket not tell you anything ? V&V account for 4 % ( vegans about .5% ) of the population so we hardly warrant sainsburys filling thier shelves with those pills, i guess there must be plenty of meateaters whos' diets are crap.

...and now we ahve "crazy horse" as well, i guess you all liek adopting redneck names eh? It certainly helps me, i know exactly what to expect from you - thanks

I am vegan and feel helthier than wwhen I was veggiwe as I have to consider what I eat, also a lot of bad food is "out" due to my new lifestyle i.e. crisps choclolates, cakes etc.
america, is the most obese nation on earth (although we brits are catching up) and the meat consumption there is massive.

Your foodstuff plan is in basic terms as healthy with the aid of fact the ingredients you place into your physique. in spite of the place you get your protein from, high quality foodstuff in potential a in good shape physique average. Vegans average have decrease ldl cholesterol, decrease physique fat, and much less risk of intense blood tension, polycystic ovarian syndrome, coronary heart ailment, diabetes, cancers (rather of the digestive gadget) and so on. than meat-eaters. they also have a greater physically powerful existence expectancy, which shows wellness in previous age. Being vegan is going to be healthy in case you make an effort to coach your self and have the time to truly plan out a sort of ingredients. i became vegan in my late adolescents, and became risky as i became a college student, and did no longer have get right of entry to to an entire kitchen to cook dinner in or the funds to function style. Toast with peanut butter is vegan, yet no longer healthy interior the long-term. then lower back, few rather everyone seems to be rather healthy in college with crappy dorm room kitchens, small budgets, tension, and booze. Now that i'm older, shelter in my funds, and with a popular sized kitchen, I consume vegan approximately 50% of the time (eggs and dairy now and lower back, yet no longer each meal for particular). i'm healthy on the interior and outdoors. the lady at your college who's vegan would possibly no longer have a relatives who helps her, so she is eating what she will it is vegan, yet could contain greater ingredients in her foodstuff plan. She would have a continual wellness situation that has no longer something to do with being vegan, which would be making her ill. temporarily, her wellness would have no longer something to do with veganism.

Alot of vegans are unhealthy because they do not read on what they are suppost to be eating. Most will start being vegan by eating just fruits and vegetables, completely forgetting that they need protein and vitiman b12. (Which can be found leafy green vegetables) Also...Soymilk is quite the health saver when it comes to being vegan.

Most of the vegans you know are kids who can't control their own diets and still drink sodas and eat french fries all the time.

Nutrition is important no matter what you choose to eat.
Meat is very unhealthy to eat. Dead tissue has no value to an animal that can't digest it. Humans can't digest meat. Colon cancer is the number one cancer because everyone has meat rotting in their colons. Broccoli has a lot more calcium than cow's milk. Vitamin D comes from the sun. There are alternatives.

For the record, my entire family is vegan and none of us have been sick in many years. My immune system is very strong now and I'm much healthier than when I ate meat. All of the little kids are in classrooms with other kids who catch every virus and cold. My nieces and nephews are much healthier than their classmates.
