Pneumonia is an illness of the lungs and respiratory system in which the alveoli (microscopic air-filled sacs of the lung responsible for absorbing oxygen from the atmosphere) become inflamed and flooded with fluid. Pneumonia can result from a variety of causes, including infection with bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites. Pneumonia may also occur from chemical or physical injury to the lungs, or indirectly due to another medical illness, such as lung cancer or alcohol abuse.

Typical symptoms associated with pneumonia include cough, chest pain, fever, and difficulty breathing. Diagnostic tools include x-rays and examination of the sputum. Treatment depends on the cause of pneumonia; bacterial pneumonia is treated with antibiotics.

YES YOU NEED TO BE CHECKED BY A DOCTOR AND TREATED ACCORDINGLY. As a matter of factor all the illness should be consulted with a doctor and treated. It is very bad to self medicate and it may have adverse side effects. Actually Pneumonia need to be confirmed ny doing suitable pathological tests and depending on the condition the treatments are to be given.

With this being Sunday I really doubt there is a doctors office opened. GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!! I had pneumonia earlier this year and thought it was no big deal. My husband came home and found me passed out. He called 911 and I was taken to the hospital. When I got there I was told I had a temperature of 106 if it was any higher I would have been brain dead. I wound up staying in the hospital 2 weeks due too my right lung was 20% filled with fluids.

Pneumonia.

Yes! You NEED to see a doctor! Pneumonia is liquid in the lungs- and that is NOT good.

Go immediately, do not wait for this question to be "resolved" as it is your health/someone's health that you know about at risk.
My friend recently had pneumonia- he waited so long to get checked out by a doctor that the hospital thought he had Tuberculosis (which is infinately worse).

No, there is no over the counter medication for pneumonia, and if you've found one, I'd be highly sceptical.

GO SEE A DOCTOR.

My 3 kids had pneumonia this summer. They were hospitalized but I refused the antibiotics! In most cases it is viral and antibiotics screws up our system if we use it for viral infections. I accepted a hospital stay for the kids and we watched for fever. As there was no fever they were given oxygen and Ventolin when needed. They were home in 2-3 days. Their ages were 11 months, 5 yrs and 16 years. My kids tend to stay very healthy while others drop like flies from illnesses contracted at school!

One of my kids did get antibiotics and we were sent home. I thought that they would get better faster! BOY was I wrong! ended up in hives and very ill! It was later determined they were allergic to antibiotics! They wanted to treat with 3 kinds of antibiotics when we arrived the second time! BUT I stood my ground and she was well in 2 days with no treatment. They just observed her. If there is no fever I would prefer they observe my kids! There are so many problems caused by the over use of antibiotics for viral problems!

My daughters surgeon was the one who asked that antibiotics NOT be given a few years back when she had pneumonia. I learned from him that 99% of pneumonia's are viral ! I was glad that he was involved in our case in the ER that day! It sure helped me stand my ground! My kids have fragile amune sytems and need good positive intervention! They are much healthier without the use of antibiotics. I also use lots of probiotics daily!

It's pneumonia and you need absolutely to be visited by a doctor to establish the gravity of the situation.I mean, nowadaiys it's no more letal but it must not be understimated.Normally with antibiotics you should get better soon but at the very least you need a chest x-ray exam

Pneumonia. Go to a doc! It's an infection of your lungs. You can have a hacking cough that produces rust-colored or greenish mucus, chest pain, aching muscles, shortness of breath, fever, headache, sweating, chills, etc. Take vit. A, C, E, Goldenseal, Echinacea,Shiitake and Maitake mushrooms for some to help. DO talk to a doctor!!!I was sent to a hospital cuz I ignored it. Emergency room!!

Actually , no, you don't need to see a doctor. That is if you don't care if you die or not. It needs to be treated with heavy duty antibiotics. I had it once and it darn near killed me because I held off going to the doctors. It got so bad that I could hardley move or breath and it is very painful.Your lungs fill with phlem and it hurts so much to cough. Feels like the worst flu you ever had x 10.
