I went to have a routine Blood sugar test done and they told me My cholesterol was up a little, I asked him if it was considered high and he just said we will have to keep and eye on it. It is 223..
And my blood sugar is also wacky and he told me that it was also fine. It also runs between 23 and 170. I know I need to find another doctor. But i have done research on this and cant seem to find what I need on here..I'm hoping some one can help..Are these levels considered high? Thank you so much for you time!

No man in my family has lived over the age of 60 due to heart attachs, my father had two over the summer, so you can see why I am concerned.

Before doing these investigations you have to follow certain rules. Before doing the cholesterol estimation you should not have taken any fatty diet , previous day ; But if you are normal you should take one are two sweets during the principal meals before doing the post prandial blood sugar test which will show whether you are potentially diabetic also. Then we shall decide whether your blood cholesterol and blood sugar are high or normal.

The cholesterol is high, so you might have to go on one of several medications used for that. I'm wondering if your study was conducted properly. You have to be fasting, not even any cream in your coffee that morning. Absolutely no fat. Having even a tiny bit of fat in your coffee can skew the results.
Your blood sugar is all over the place. It's not safe to keep your blood sugar high. When your sugar is too high for too long, you run the risk of diabetic complications like loss of a limb due to decreased blood flow, retinopathy (blindness), heart disease, and kidney damage. I don't mean to scare you, I'm just telling you how serious this can be. Your doctor should get a FASTING blood sugar reading. This means that you have nothing to eat or drink for 8 hours before the test. That's really the only way to get an accurate blood sugar. Granted, diabetics must check their blood sugar several times a day in order to regulate their insulin intake. But the first blood sugar should be a fasting one.

Your cholesterol is a bit high because it exceeded the limit of 200 and your blood sugar is quite high because it exceeded the limit of 110.
Both are above normal but they are still manageable and there is no need to panic. Both your cholesterol and blood sugar could still be managed with exercise and diet. The doctor will most probably advice you to just exercise and eat in moderation. If after you followed it and your cholesterol and blood sugar does not normalize then the doctor will prescribe you medicines to help you control it. Remember not to worry too much because your condition is very manageable.
Good day!

My cholesterol was 2 months ago over 340. I'm taking now the ZOCOR 40mg and it's down right now on 245. Watch what are you eating. No butter, no eggs. My problem is genetic so I keep taking my medicine.

You need to have a LDL/HDL ratio test to be more specific about your colestrol. Your blood sugar level seems to be border line high.

I've heard above 200 is considered high. Check out your individual numbers, LDL (bad chol.), HDL (good chol.), VLDL (very bad chol). Check out the internet to see what these levels should be at.

200 should be the limit. I ate oatmeal everyday for 6 months and lowered my 30 points. Watch your diet or you will need to take a pill.
