You can drink the milk.
Lacto is a term used for milk or dairy, so a lacto-vegetarian will still eat things that contain dairy products.
Ovo is the term for eggs, so a person who is ovo-vegetarian will still eat things that have eggs in it.
A lacto-ovo vegetarian eats things that have both eggs and dairy.
A vegan is a vegetarian that will not eat or use any animal products: no eggs, no dairy, no honey ... only things that are from plants and animals didn't make. They also won't wear wool or use any product that has bi-products in it that come from animals... basically everything from soap to clothes to food has to be simply plant-based.

Well, it depends what kind of vegetarian you are. Some vegetarians drink milk, but vegans don't consume anything that comes from an animal. I'm vegan and I recommend switching to soymilk. You should definitely try Silk soymilk, it's really yummy! :]
Also, by chicken salt, do you mean those little chicken bouillon cubes? Those have dried chicken meat and fat in them, so no, vegetarians don't eat those.

I agree that it's all about choice - not "can".

I don't drink cow's milk because it's really bad for you. Only baby cows can drink it and digest it. We wouldn't give human breast milk to a cow, right? It wouldn't be natural.

I recommend Silk soy milk to start out with. Some of the others taste a little "soybeany" at first. The Vanilla flavor will probably taste the most like cow's milk to you. I worked up to the regular silk. The chocolate is awesome! I know a lot of people who drink that even if they drink cow's milk, too. It has NO CHOLESTEROL!

I've never heard of chicken salt.

It is entirely up to you what you choose to eat. Some vegetarians continue to use dairy products sich as milk, cream, butter, cheese, cottage cheese and also include eggs in their diet.
Other's choose not to use any animal products. If you wish to follow that route you might want to think about things such as gelatine, animal fats etc often used in prepared food such as cakes, sweets and pies.
If you wish to be vegan and exclude all animal produce, I mean all, then you would also exclude honey because it exploits bees and not wear leather.
I don't get caught up in moral arguments about vegetarianism and veganiism. Luckily in developed countries we can choose to eat pretty much whatever we like. There are many people in the world that don't get that choice.

Vegetarians do not eat anything that comes from a dead animal. So products like milk and eggs are OK to eat.

A Vegan does not eat any animal by products, so they do not eat things that contain milk or eggs.

Vegetarians are now being identified by what they will eat. "Lacto" means that they will ingest dairy, and "Ovo" means that they will digest eggs. (Thus an ovo-lacto vegetarian eats milk and eggs, plus lots of vegetables!). Dairy and eggs are animal byproducts and thus an animal was not killed in the process of digesting them (they may have suffered but that is not the issue technically). Now certain groups of people who want to call themselves vegetarians, but they eat fish, that is "Pesca", and chickens "Pollo", which is an animal. It isn't red meat, but it is not vegetarian in the true sense of the word. To completely eliminate all animal and animal by-products is to be vegan.

i guess it depends on why your a vegetarian some would say no milk because its cruel to animals some would say yes because its not a meat product. as far as the chicken salt goes, yes you can it doesn't contain any animal products, its just a seasoning.

I think they can. Vegetarians just can't consume actual meat or anything that has actual meat in it. As far as things like milk or honey go, vegetarians can consume it, but Vegans don't. Vegans won't consume anything that comes from an animal, in case the animal was harmed in the process.

Cow's milk is made for baby cows! Try soy milk. I love it and it comes in all flavors like chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla.
