No. Genital warts and genital herpes are two completely different viruses. They are both viral STDs, but they are caused by different viruses.
Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus. Herpes simplex virus also includes cold sores, chickenpox, shingles, and a few others. Genital herpes causes painful, itchy blisters on the penis, on the vulva, or inside the vagina. Blisters may also appear on the anus, buttocks, thighs, or scrotum, either alone or in clusters. The blisters can break and become shallow, painful, oozing sores.
Genital warts are cause by HPV (Human Papillomavirus). HPV also causes other kinds of warts including hand and feet warts and is responsible for certain kinds of cancer (mainly cervical cancer). Genital warts may be large, or they may be too small to be seen with the naked eye. They may appear individually or in groups. Warts may look like tiny bunches of cauliflower or like flat, white areas that are very difficult to see. They are very itchy, irritating, and can sometimes bleed.
Both viruses have NO cure. There is only treatment. There is no "cure" for HPV, although in most women the infection goes away on its own. A persons body can basically "fight off" the virus. This isn't always true for everyone though. Some people have the virus for life.

no; Genital herpes is caused by the herpes simplex virus. The virus can affect the mouth, the genital area, the skin around the anus and the fingers. Once the first outbreak of herpes is over, the virus hides away in the nerve fibres, where it remains totally undetected and causes no symptoms.
Genital warts are small fleshy growths which may appear anywhere on a man or woman's genital area. They are caused by a virus called human papilloma virus (HPV).
There are more than 60 different types of HPV. Some types cause warts to grow on the genitals, others cause warts to grow on different parts of the body, such as the hands.
although if you have one you will need to see a doctor immediately

no, you can have plain genital warts and not herpes. Herpes is charactorized by blisters and not warts. Warts are a sepparate thing.
Genital Warts
Genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV) are usually sexually transmitted and highly contagious. The warts can be found in and around the vagina, anus, penis, groin and scrotal areas. Some strains of HPV have been associated with cancer of the cervix and other cancers so gynecological examination and pap tests every 6 months are important to monitor the condition.
Herpes
Herpes -There are two types of herpes simplex viruses: HSV-1 and HSV-2. They are basically the same virus with the type-1 outbreaks appearing most commonly about the mouth, Canker (Cold) Sore and the type-2 affecting the genital or vaginal area. Once infected by herpes, warning sign or symptoms (prodrome) will appear signaling the onset of an outbreak. Prodrome is caused by the virus replicating in the skin. Within two to seven days, sores and fluid-filled blisters appear. The entire first episode may take as long as a month for the sores to scab over and dry up.
The herpes virus may lie dormant for long periods of time until triggered by stress, illness, poor nutrition, excessive activity and even sunlight coupled with a weakened immune system, the virus travels around nerve pathways to the site of the outbreak.
Herpes is contagious just prior to and during an outbreak. The most contagious period is when the virus is replicating externally prior to an outbreak and during the outbreak when the blisters are filled with fluid. It is almost impossible to contact herpes from inanimate objects such as toilet seats. The herpes virus is spread through direct contact. The soft skin of the genitals, vagina and anus along with most surfaces of the mouth area are easy targets. Kissing, caressing and sexual contact with a person in the contagious stage will spread the disease

These are two different diseases. HPV causes genital warts and changes in the cells of the cervix for women. Herpes shows as skin lesions. You may have HPV and NEVER in your lifetime will you know. However, with Herpes you will eventually have an outbreak. There are 2 types. There is one strain that causes cold sores on your lips and the other that causes gential sores. The are different, however, by receiving oral sex from someone who had a cold sore you can develop genital herpes. It also follows that by giving oral sex to someone that has gential herpes you can get cold sores.
It is possible to spread herpes even when you do not have an outbreak. It is also possible to spread herpes even with a condom - from skin to skin contact.
HPV is different. This is what 80-90% of the population has. HPV comes in a variety of strings. Some won't cause people problems, others can be very dangerous. For women it is seen by an abnormal pap smear. It causes changes in the cells of the cervix which eventually can lead to cancer. Sometimes your body can fight it and it is suppressed for a certain amount of time, in others it depends on the strain and your health. Some may have it for decades without any symptoms. To answer your question regarding how so many have it is that there is no test. Most men will never know they have it. The only way is for an abnormal pap smear or for men to know, the woman they are with to have an abnormal pap smear. It is spread even with a condom, it just takes skin to skin contact.
We have so many people out there with it, don't know, and even if they have good intentions by using a condom, spreading it. That is why there are so many with it.
There is no cure for herpes, but there are medications that can suppress the outbreaks (like I said, you can still spread it though.) There is also no cure for HPV. If you think you have herpes or HPV you should see your doctor immediatly. If you don't have one, look up your local planned parenthood location and see them.

No. Genital warts is caused by a virus called HPV or Human Papilloma Virus. It is an STD. It looks like clusters of small skin tags or warts and is very communicable through unprotected sex. Herpes is caused by the HSV or Herpes Simplex Virus. It is also an STD. However, it can be spread in other types of intimate contact. It starts just like a fever blister does with skin tingling, itching and then pain. If you come in contact with a Herpes sore you may contract the virus. Herpes virus is not curable. HPV is treated with cryotherapy (freezing the warts) or acid. HPV can also cause cervical cancer in women.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.
