Sliced (and wrapped) bread is crap but It's clever how they found a way of getting water to stand on it's edge.
My baker has a better solution. He takes a crusty loaf off the shelf
and asks if I want it sliced. If it's Sunday morning and I'm feeling frail I may say yes and he'll put it into the slicer and then slip the sliced loaf in a bag, just to hold it together. If the bread's still warm and doughy, which is sometimes the case if I fell out of bed that morning, I'll find I have to peel the slices apart as they tend to stick together. I'm never so frail I can't peel off a slice or two
