You usually need to get another HIV test 3 months after the first one. There is the "window period". HIV takes sometimes up to 3 months to show up in your blood, so that is why for that three months you need to use protection, or no sex at all.

if I understand this correctly, you took the test 18 months after "possibly being exposed." In that case, yes, you are, most certaintly, negative. Any signs of viral infection would have been picked shown within 4-6 months, especially 18 months!! However, you are entitled to an STD/HIV test every 6 months through your insurance. So if it's been 6 months since you took that test, you can take it again. Taking the tests more regularly than that will only cost you more money, and highten your worry and concern. If you NEED to get tested for reassurance and your doctor refuses, simply go to a free clinic!

Unless you had UPS in the last 3 months which could be considered high-risk or you are an IDU-intravenous drug-user- then you should not need to be re-tested. You will know best not your doctor.

Well it all depends on you. If you feel for some reason you should take another one just to give you some peace of mind than do it else where.

No, why take it again?

Either abstain from sex OR use protection.
Abstinence is best---then you don't have to worry,.............
Wait until you are married. You will be soooo glad you did.
You can stop right now if you decide to.
