I work in a pharmacy and know that many drug companies offer free or discounted medicine. You need to talk to your doctor about it, he/she will have the information needed. Ask him/her about drug company sponsored meds.

Check with your doctor because a lot of the drug companies offer free drugs to those who cannot afford their medication. There are forms that need to be filled out by someone from your doctors office, this person will be considered your advocate. The first supply will be a thirty day supply (if i remember correctly) and it will be sent directly to your doctor's office after that a 60 day supply will be sent directly to your home (i know this because my best friend is disabled and she receives free medication). If your doctor's office doesn't have the information contact the pharmaceutical company yourself and the will be able to connect you to the department that handles this. Also once you receive disability you should be eligible for medicare and/or medicaid which will cover your prescription. Please be advised that if you have a prescription plan the pharmaceutical company will not give you your medication for free. There is also an organization called The partnership for prescription assistance, Talk show host Montel Williams is a spokesman for them. I am sorry that I don't have their number but it is probably available if you call 411.

If you are getting federal govt. disability, you should be on Medicare which pays for your medicine. If you are not and you are not able to work, I would hire a lawyer and apply for disability. Lawyers will not charge you unless they win. There is free medication available if you are low income/low assets. You need to talk to your doctor about getting a form or on the internet you can key in the medcine you are taking and the name of the company that makes it will show up..then contact that company and ask them for help. If it's a temp. thing, you might call the churches for help or asked the doctor if he has a voucher for free meds (sometimes they get those)..he may able to get enough free samples to do you.

I know that Merck corp. runs a discounted med program. I think they are the manufacturer of a few asthma meds.

Have you tried applying for S.S.I.? (social security income) Also while waiting for a reply from SSI you can go to your social services office and see what other programs you can go on for help.
