I live in CA and my sister, who lives in UT, is cebrating her 50th wedding anniversary late in November. I am leaving on vacation and need to order a cake that can be delivered to her in time for the celebration.

Have you looked at Harry and David?
http://www.harryanddavid.com

They have some very yummy cakes and other treats, and they ship them. It won't have anything written on it, but you can send a gift message with it.

You can try an internet search to find a local bakery near her, but delivery will be a problem. One option would be to contact a local taxi service and ask them to pick up and deliver it. I've known people who have done such things via taxi, but I can't swear that they do it everywhere. And of course you'd have to know that she'd be home to receive it. The bakery may be able to hook you up with a local courier service that could do it, too, if not a taxi.

EDIT: the gocakego answer interested me, so I checked the google directory and found lots of mail-order options:

Do you know any friends of theirs you could ask? If not, you might be stuck with googling for bakeries in the city in Utah. It doesn't matter if it's not their favorite bakery, it's the thought that counts. Any bakery will accommodate you.

If you send me some plane tickets to Utah, I will not only bake the cake, I will jump out of it.
