We live in the northeast and my 8 year old daughter has had this problem for as long as I can remember. It only happens in the winter, usually at least twice during the season and usually it will last 2-3 weeks at a time

You might cut down ( or cut out ) the mucous building foods from her diet when winter approaches, or all the time. Mucous foods are all dairy (she might still eat yogurt) and white flour products. She could eat breads made from other flours such as rice, soya, or corn flour. Try adding a tablespoon of bee pollen to her salads during the summer to prepare for the winter. I have not had trouble with my health since I've cut out all white food stuff. I don't eat sugar either. She could use honey or maple suger. Try it and see if it helps.
