that is the ultimate southern dish to make regardless if your black or white if your from the south,been to the south, or have origins from the south you can appreciate cornbread and greens, but what about catfish and grits?

Being from the south I love southern cooking, but my greens of preference has got to be turnip greens, especially with cornbread and candied yams! Now I am about to cry because Thanksgiving is coming and all the "REAL" cooks in my family are gone to Heaven! MY Grandmother on the yams, My Mother on the hot water cornbread, and My Grandfather picking and literally picking the greens boilling the fatback and washing the greens 13 times (an old family joke) man talking about feeling the love at the dinner table! I think the meat use to feel left out LOL!! Thanks for the nostalgia

I like to cook any kind of greens down with bacon and tasso and put over cornbread. My dad cannot believe that I like them ( a friend of mine got me eating greens a few years ago) he hates greens. He grew up on a sugar cane farm and my great grandma used to cook them. There's anout and acre and a half of yard from the house to the field and he said he could smell them when he hit the back edge of the yard. So he'd head to town for a burger instead of going in to eat.
