I need the receipe for jello shots and the punch that smoke rolls out of I am having a halloween party this saturday. I think I read somewhere you need dry ice to make the punch smoke and the idea of putting dry ice in something I actually drink scares me. Is it really okay to do that. any other ideas are welcome. :)

Dry Ice is frozen carbon dioxide, a normal part of our earth's atmosphere. It is the gas that we exhale during breathing and the gas that plants use in photosynthesis. It is also the same gas commonly added to water to make soda water. Dry Ice is particularly useful for freezing, and keeping things frozen because of its very cold temperature: -109.3°F or -78.5°C. Dry Ice is widely used because it is simple to freeze and easy to handle using insulated gloves. Dry Ice changes directly from a solid to a gas -sublimation- in normal atmospheric conditions without going through a wet liquid stage. Therefore it gets the name "dry ice."

As a general rule, Dry Ice will sublimate at a rate of five to ten pounds every 24 hours in a typical ice chest. This sublimation continues from the time of purchase, therefore, pick up Dry Ice as close to the time needed as possible. Bring an ice chest or some other insulated container to hold the Dry Ice and slow the sublimation rate. Dry Ice sublimates faster than regular ice melts but will extend the life of regular ice.

6 ounces of spirits

6 ounces water

3 ounces Jello (small box, any flavor)

3 ounce Dixie PAPER Cups

Pour the water and vodka into a saucepan and raise it to a boil.

Stir in the jello and make sure it totally dissolves.

Put the jello liquid into a pitcher for easier pouring.

You'll need to pour the jello into the small Dixie cups.

If you let the jello sit in the refrigerator in one big bowl then the vodka will separate and you'll have some crappy shooters. (Use the little cups!)
Let them chill in the refrigerator for about 5-6 hours
Use paper cups, you can tear them open to get the Jello
Watch the Jello liquid carefully, it boils over fast
Make sure you have lots of space in the refrigerator
Allow plenty of time, it takes awhile
Speed things up by doubling quantities: 12 oz vodka, 12 oz water, 2 small boxes of Jello (or 1 large box)

I did what the directions said on the box. however instead of the cold water used spirits chilled in the freezer. I made some a few weeks ago and they came out great!!

You can not drink the punch if you used dry ice in it. Make a for show one with the dry ice. and another for drinking. We have a for show one at the party we have every year.

Jello shots already answered -- just substitute the cold water with whatever liquor you like -- change it up. (Lime w/Tequila - Cherry w/Rum - Orange w/Vodka, etc, etc).

If you are worried about the dry ice, float a small bowl in your punch bowl with the dry ice and water in it. That way it is not directly in the punch.

To get smoky punch, drop a block of dry ice in it. It will keep it cold, maybe carbonate it a bit, and make smoke.

I have no idea about Jello shots.

Do not put dry ice near where people can touch it. You'll ruin your party with a trip to the emergency room.

jello shots.. a speciality.

exchange the cold water for the liquor when making jello-

jello mix, hot water, liquor - I believe its a cup or something.. but you can use vodka, liquors, wine, tequila- stir until the powder is dissolved, pour into little one ounce cups or whatever... chill
You can use Reddi- Whip and top them...

enjoy!
