Don't overdo it with everything suggested in here. Be selective to create a pleasant taste. I like to keep it simple and use the following in moderation to create a pleasant taste:1 onion quartered, 1 turnip quartered, 1 tablespoon of horseradish, 1 tablespoon of parsley flakes, couple dashes of worchestire sauce and now use all the other traditional gravy ingredients, veggies and meat.

IS IT A SOUP OR A STEW, for a seasoning that is great with tomato, basil, celery salt sage, thyme, parsely. for a stew try paprika, worcestshire sauce, cook the beef with bay leaves or a bouquet garni. make dumplings add a pinch of chilli powder for a spicey alternative. LF

Hi MamaAlto,
Garlic, basil, salt/pepper of course, marjorum(sp), celery salt, cumin, onions, red pepper flakes-this will give the soup alittle kick & depending on what size pot you use-if it's a stock pot I'd say 1 teaspoon to 1 Tablespoon-taste it,
bayleaf-but throw this out after done with the soup- in other words don't eat it. Yummy to almost any kinda soup. Have a good day!

Throw in a couple of bay leaves and let them cook into the stew. Just remember to remove them before you serve it.
