I seem to have them on a regular basis.

Just yesterday a friend of mine invited me to go to a Junior High Football game this weekend. There's a kid in our church that doesn't have contact with his dad, so only his mom goes to the games. I didn't hesitate or think about why I wanted and needed to go. I just agreed to go.

As I thought about it later, I realized that it was really not like me to do that type of thing. I hate football. It's going to be early and cold on a Saturday morning. The old me would have weaseled out in a second. But then, I realized how different I've become. I wasn't thinking about myself. I was just hoping that some kid, a kid I barely know and may never get to know, but I was just hoping he'd notice that someone showed up and cared. Because, crazy as it is, I do care. I want him to know that there are good men out there (not that his dad is necessarily bad).
