I am a manger of retail and if my staff did that they would get a big talking to. you should report it.

My polite, but often to the point, husband actually told the the cashier (as a similar conversation was going on bt. 2 employees) "Hang on a second, I need to grab something." While still chatting away, (I don' think she even heard him) he walked over to the nearest end-cap isle picked up whatever item was there, and pretended to look at each one with great interest. By the time she realized what was going on, everyone else in line was chuckling and she became really red in the face. Couple of people even applauded.

I think it's great when people are having a good time at their job. I'd rather be checked out a little more slowly by a happy cashier than quickly by a grumpy one. You all need to slow down, you're going to give yourselves heart attacks with that attitude....don't sweat the small stuff...besides, if you got checked out just a little quicker, maybe that bus that just missed you on your way across that street may have got you instead. Things happen for a reason.

Yes, but I think I hate it more when customers are rude to employees, like talking on cell phones or chatting with friends and ignoring somebody trying to tell them their total, take their drink order, ask them what size they want, etc. I hate helping those people when I'm at work, I hate being with those people when I'm in a group, and I hate most being behind those people when I'm in line, because I will talk trash about them with the cashier or whatever when I get there!

I hate that crap. They are there to do a job, not socialize.
Today, it's nothing but 16 year olds working the cash register, and they don't care about customer service, or doing their job right. Just ring them up and get them out the door.
You practically get your change thrown in your hand, without so much as a "thank you".
Yes, lately, going to the store just gets me aggravated!

It all comes down to "LACK OF TRAINING" assume everyone you hire is a moron then go from there. Managers need to pay more attention to this and fix the problem !
