When you are in love you feel more like a child... You get happy for even the smallest things, there is always an odd smile in your face and all the rest of world's problems began to seem unimportant to you. And when you are in love, you want to do lustful things but they just don't seem to you that way.
If you can imagine yourself doing those "lustful" things with someone else and still feel happy about it then most probably you are not in love. Try and see.

it always feels like love but love is not a feeling that just starts one day. It's like a fine wine or tree, it takes time to age and grow. Lust is what gives us the initial attraction that can lead to love. At 16, i just KNEW I was in love. Now as an old man, I know love didn't happen until quite a while later. Thank god for lust!

Love is depth and takes time to develop. Lust is one of the things like infatuation that is there to get you started. Being that you are 16, I assume you haven't been with this person very long at all so I would assume you are in the beginning of a possible long term relationship. Wait. If the love develops, it will make everything you desire to do to each other 100 times better.

Lust is generally alway present in a loving relationship, however love isn't often found in a lust based relationship. has he taken the time to figuer out the meanings of the different shades and depths of your eyes as your thoughts and emotions change? If he cares enough to learn and care about that then he may love you. If not, oh well. There's a long road of learning in front of you either way.
good luck

Short answer: It's entirely possible it's neither love nor lust, but infatuation.
If you are thinking about anything other than physical stuff with the person, then it MIGHT be love.
If you are only thinking about hot monkey love, then that is lust.
Don't forget about infatuation, though! You could very easily be infatuated with the person, which means the feeling is transitory and can pass as soon as someone else you are interested in appears.

i am 40 yr lady... been married 2 times... both times were not true love but maybe only lust or infatuation... what made me feel good at the time and blinded by love feelings... but was it? well since then i have come to know true love... it was very different... it was online where i got to know someone deeply first thru only words.. fell in love with the heart... not what they looked like or made me feel... i belive this is the difference in lust in love... but i believe they can go together n should.. cause its a natural thing...

Lust usually only comes with no feeling or committment, but Love, is everything, sharing, caring, lust, crying, etc etc etc. Lust only hurts below the waist, but love hurts all over the body.

If you love someone you will know. people can stir things up in you, and it's just romance and passion or lust, but love is different. love means you wanna be there for them if they have an accident, you cant imagine your life without them, you care for them more than anyone.

it is love if you can feel harmony and clear inside you when you are with him are away... you feel great value for your self, your self esteem increases alot, you feel that nothing matters in the world but him, you will just feel it spontaneously..
if you need to think of him or be with him to feel love towards him then it is just lust or infatuation
after all you cant tell from early times.. you have to give your self -both- some time to develop your emotions and see.. i don't mean sex.. i mean having time in sharing your daily actions and so on..
and remember that the love we feel in 16 is totally different from the love you feel after wards in 20s.. don't rush things

I guess at first when you see someone you like its lustful i mean you don't even know them so it cant possibly be love(i don't believe in love at first sight)but once you,ve gone beyond the lust its the feelings that come after. When your in love you'l know trust me.
