Akbars is a fantastic indian restaurant.
Bibi's is nice italian but expensive.
Flying pizza is nice but looks a bit dated.
Casa Mia's in Chapel allterton is lovely.
Salvo's in headingly is another good italian based restaurant.

For the best food, even though its a bit noisy to eat in, go to Room on Boar Lane - excellent menu and changes fairly often. Otherwise try Salvos Salumeria (on a Thursday or Friday night only) in Headingley or Dough in West Park - both need booking a few days in advance but are very pleasing (Dough is BYO and therefore nicely priced). Oh, and ignore that one about Calientes - it's like a throwback to the curry house adverts shown before the film in 1970s British cinemas!

I lived and worked in Leeds headingley for years, the best place I found for mexican was Calientes, the small red resturant on the high street. For Thai you can do a lot worse than Thai edge.

The Cactus Lounge near the playhouse is nice mexican food, and not too expensive. They do a reasonable lunchtime deal as well.

The Living Room, good food but not cheap and it is where the people who like to be seen are seen.

If your lucky you might meet some celebs and get invited to the VIP room.
