Yes, I believe so. A lot of things that do happen are hard to understand but he gives us the strenth to handle them Anything that happens can come out good if you love the Lord.

Romans chap 8 talks a lot about why some things happen. These verses kind of stood out to me.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God

What we call events are nothing more important than a violent flood against a colony of worms. A horrible earthquake in Los Angeles is nothing to a kid living in Germany. World War II is nothing to people living in the Amazon rain forests now. The collapse of some galaxies beyond the Andromeda is nothing to almost all mankind.
Real event is the emotion in each human mind. If he has learnt about love, the cigarettes may have taken away many nights of his sleep for thinking about how to give effective warning to smokers. For people of no learning and no thinking, all things are nothing.
The real matter with mankind, as rational beings, is to know where and from whom to learn the lesson about love. The discovery of that real Teacher is the greatest event.

There is no God and events happen because of the reality of existence.
