Experience is the best teacher and it sounds like you had a lot of expereince even at 22. At your age, I was leap-frogged to the editor of a daily newspaper just after two years of journalism background...no formal education. In hindsight I did a lot of dumb things but also achieved a lot for the newsroom and readers...and was promoted again and again. So, if you have it, use it and don't worry about mistakes. Everyone makes them, even the Big Boys with the million plus salaries. The trick is not letting the mistakes stand in your way of success...and nervousness help you to be cautious...so it sounds like you have the moxie to win. Where is the gallery? I have a large inventory to move.
