Be very gentle with whoever you are massaging, and focus on the back using the side of your hand or do a "window wiping" method with your palm.

If you want to be massaged, buy a massaging kit from somewhere like Argos.

There are TONS of excellent books on the subject. Right off the top of my head, I would suggest "Sabrina's Mudra Cards" by Sabrina Mesko Ph.D.H. Also there is a wonderful section on sensual massage in the old standby "The Joy of Sex," as well as in "Our Bodies, Ourselves."

Also, massage classes are often offered through community education programs. These are not free, but they are cheap, and scholarships are often available.

Please remember, though, that massage, other than the kind to relieve a ordinary tired back or as a precursor or cool down after a session of good lovin', IS a medical procedure, so if the receiver of the massage has a real problem, either find a professional ETHICAL masseur, or make sure you are properly trained before attempting to practice massage yourself. You could do a great deal of damage when you are trying to help.

Quality massage is more then half accomplished in the setting and words that the therapist uses. The best instruction that you can get is to find out who is REALLY good near you and go there yourself. Either get a massage or sit in on one. This will give you an opportunity to network while your at it. Good luck
