North Korea didn't need Nuclear weapons,it wasen't threatened and its admitted it wanted the bomb to enhance there negociations with the U.S & China so why should they be trusted, the nation in my opinion is brain washed by the Dictator, well thats how it seems anyhow.

i think so too.

and while i don't think they should be developing the bomb, it's definitely acting as a deterrant. if they didn't have it (or such a huge army - the bomb's just an extension of that...) the US would have invaded by now like they did Iraq...

i think it's an incredibly dangerous place just now, and we need to be speaking to China NOW because they're going to have to decide what happens, and they're gonna feel any repercusions more than anyone...

The United States, and those countries who fought with it such as the United Kingdom, did not suceed in defeating North Korea between 1950 and 1953, so they can hardly start a war now when the balance of power has, if only comparatively, shifted against them. And North Korea, whilst it may just about have a nuclear weapon, is hardly in a position to start a war against its neighbours. China's position concerning North Korea is complex, but it is doubbtful they would either wish to go to war with North Korea or let anybody else have such a war on their doorstep.

It may seem crazy now, but the long-term nuclear danger is that North Korea will lead Japan into getting nuclear weapons and into subesequent conflict between Japan and China as China increasingly dominates the Far East. Japan's treatment of China and Korea in the 1930s and 1940s was appalling and it is too early to forget World War II. The United States and Europe must come to terms with Chinese power directly: the danger is that they will use Japan as an ineffectual bulwark against China. This could lead to disaster as Japan does not have the size or resources of China. It is in everybody's interests that Japan should continue to specialise as an economic power rather than a military one.

The tragedy of North Korea is the desperate situation of most of its people, who are starving and live in appalling conditions. It is very frustrating that the international community is unable, and perhaps in some cases unwilling, to do anything about these abuses of human rights.

Any pre-emptive war against North Korea would have to be agreed with South Korea and China first, and neither would agree.

The South Korean capital is within easy striking distance of North Koreas conventional weaponary never mind the new nukes so they risk terrible death and destruction on day one, even if the war ended on day two.

China is the regime which props the North up and so as much as they are probably embarrased at what the North Koreans are up to they will not stand by and watch a western army take it to bits and end up on their border in strength.

What I think will happen is that Kim Il Jong will suddenly be taken ill with a mysterious illness from which he does not recover, and he will be replaced by someone more moderate.

Could be wrong....but...

I don't think war will happen. North Korea keeps thinking it needs to deter the United States away from invading North Korea or whatever paranoid ideas Kim Jong-il is thinking.

North Korea wants talks...North Korea doesn't want talks...it wants this, it wants that...can't make up their minds

North Korea already apologized, China is key in keeping North Korea under control, and Condoleezza Rice already expressed the willingness and ability of the United States to defend its Asian allies (especially Japan) with whatever military might is needed. The USA really, really doesn't want any other country developing their nuclear arsenal just because North Korea is stirring up trouble and is wanting to appear to be a threat.

With our knees deep in the Iraq situation, I don't think we could muster up enough forces to war with North Korea, and, if we were to fight North Korea, North Korea's biggest trade partner, supplier, and ally, China, would certainly show humility to the US. It would be nuclear North Korea and nuclear China versus nuclear US which would have to ask for ally help...but what country would be willing to help the USA for that particular reason?...or be able to?

...then again, the US could very well have some military technology under wraps that most people don't know about and could surely surprise the world if it were true. Without the use of troops, it could be a ballistics war at first...with the US using bombers, submarine launchers, and land launchers to strike hard and fast as many key targets in China as possible (military bases/barracks, warehouses, power plants, factories, etc) with China possibly doing the same to the USA mainland before the real war would begin...but maybe at a lesser degree?...the USA has more experience with technological war, and China might just end-up with a bunch of missed targets and duds.

Who knows!...but I personally doubt it.

The North Korean military are brainwashed to kill many enemies even if it means they will die. They have been doing this for over forty years. This is why US President George Walker Bush does not go to war. More than three times the casualties that happened in Operation Iraqi Freedom will occur in a war with North Korea. The US will not win so easy and the Chinese will help as in the conflict of the 1950s in the US appears to be winning. China has modernized and continues to improve their military in all aspects. If the Russians feel they can benefit from it they too will help as in the 1950s. Yes I may sound paranoid, but Dr. Robert Pritchard of Los Angeles Valley College knows this too well. In addition to being a US Army infantry veteran of the Korean conflicts in the 1950s,he knows history.

maximum useful answer i will grant you (IMHO) is that; China could play the two factors, Russia could decide for to stay out of the warfare as long as NK would not do what they did the final time we fought them. Scratch that, the two China and Russia may be in touch if NK pushed into their international places if we swept throughout the time of their land. Iran could lend help to a pair degree yet i'm uncertain if i will see an quite Iranian military scuffling with ours interior the comparable conflict. understand this. international warfare a million began ninety 9 years in the past- 28 July 1914. What SPARKED the warfare (yet did no longer commence it) replaced into one basic gunshot that by no potential ought to have befell. One nut job desperate to tug the set off on an Archduke and from then on the area grew worse. What i'm getting at, almost one hundred years later we are very lots interior the comparable undertaking. All it takes is one little accident and the crap could hit the fan. wish that facilitates.

tell me any nation that needs nuclear weapons? Out of all the nations on this planet who has shown the most potential to let one off? Which nation has dropped an atomic bomb on innocent people? Its like this, if u go around bullying people then your greatest fear would be becoming a victim of bullying. Certain western nations are insecure and paranoid, afraid that some nation will do to them what they have been doing to others all the long. Really the enemy is a lot closer to home.

Bush named Iraq, Iran and North Korea as the Axis of Evil, said that he intended preemptive military action to create regime change. Then he invaded Iraq. He was threatening North Korea openly as well as Iran at that time.
How can you say North Korea has not been threatened.
Is your memory that short.
Dictator or not Kim is revered in his country and the population generally regards the USA as a threat that intends to complete the destruction of Korea.
To North Korea minds They managed to stave off imperial aggression, but view the Southern half of their country as occupied by a foreign power, and themselves as under seige. Hard to argue against their viewpoint. Especially whith such a long history of invasion by Russia, China, Japan, NATO and now the US again.

I don't think it will happen. We have had many chances to go to war with N. Korea over the years. We have chosen to take the easy way out. We don't want a war with N. Korea. We don't have the manpower available to wage war there, at this time. Also, by provoking a war with N. Korea, we would risk making China mad and the U.S. doesn't want to do that.

Unfortunatly North Korea WAS THREATENED FIRST. Thanks to Dumya Bush, with his Axis of evil speech. North Korea was included and after iraq being illegally invaded on BS then Korea (and Iran) have diplomatically to save face and say they will fight any invasion/agression.

Yes north korea is a dictator, yes people oppressedd but the way America has conducted its diplomacy has ramped up the situation.

North Korea has said that America has missle launchers near its borders, it also recently threatened war if South Korea helps the blockade.

The USA will never invade as they have nothing to offer them in return, This is not an oil state, like the situation in Iraq, Countries themselves can not say that another country can not have nuclear weapons, when these countries themselves have these weapons of mass destuction IE Britain France and the US.

The are all hippocrites
