Seriously, there's not even tax advantages anymore. If you have a prefectly good relationship with someone, why change it with wedlock?

lol, I wish my mother thought that way. I've been in a relationship for 10 years without getting married (I won't go into the reasons) and my mom bugs me non-stop about it.

I feel that as long as you love each other, it's all good, you don't need 'society's stamp of approval'.

And the next question could be 'why have kids?'

i was thinking about the same as well. why change it when everything works. the reason is in the way of thinking. Some people thing that wedding is a break in your relationship. It might really be. For some east nation is partnership almost nothing and when these two get married they start to feel much more for each other. In some countries relationship change after wedding in ownership.
I personally think that on marriage is nothing bad and a I want to marry a girl certainly. I think when you are living in marriage it brings you more responsibilities.

well you don't need to but it's tradition that biinds you as a legalized couple, in the eyes of the society. And i agree with you, there are not many tax advantages today even if you do marry, because the condtions or rather the wants have changed very much today.

I dont' recommend it.

Its probably more for "religious fanatics". I think if you are happy you don't have to validate yourself to someone legally.

I am married, but only because I was young and felt pressured by my family, friends, and at that time him too to "do the right" thing.

But the right thing to everyone else might not be the right thing for you.

And if you realize that later you don't want to spend forever with this person, then you have a legal contract to break....and this horrible "obligation" that prevents you from being truthful with yourself sometimes.

Good luck man. Weddings are overated and expensive anyway......

A public and solid commitmet and deep personal covenant, or vow of swearing allegenace with another Is a much sturdier platform to form a relationship and family on.

Anything else is non-commital, and very flimsy indeed,,

Let me ask you this,,,
If children are born into this type of "relationship" what kind of example will that set for them?

A real agreement and commitment is better than a flufy "we'll just see how we go" relationship.

otherwise, whats the point?, its all of nothing.

Thanks for the question

Marriage is simply a way to let others and your partner know that you consolidate the relationship in a way that you commit for the rest of your life, and people should consider you're together unless something important happens. My husband's brother is not married and we never know if he's still with his girlfriend, if his mother is supposed to know he's dating someone, anyway, it's awkward.

It is probablly the most legitimate excuse, that doesn't appear to be simply horrendously indulgent, you will have to get wildy stupendously drunk, stand up infront of a large number of people and speak incoherant dribble that you find incredibly hillarious.... and only you..... Get dressed up in a penguin suit and totally trash yourself...... Retire for the night to a luxury suite to have wild and wanton monkey motel sex...... alll night!!!!!

Yeah......

Why indeed......

The Woman should get married to ensure herself faithfullness, love, prenups (agreeement before marriage in case there's a divorce) where the Woman gets EVERYTHING (that way she can use this as a power tool over the man), and most importantly, to lock the man into slavery.

Women out there, don't lie to yourself, you know you want to control your man, and marriage is the only way. Make sure that if he tries to divor e you you get everything that way he can't divorce you.
