That really sucks, man, but do you really think you can sue Microsoft... one of the largest company's in the world!? I don't think any intelligent lawyer would even attempt such a thing. It sounds more like an Adobe update caused it anyways. Many times there are updates going on that users don't even realize. I know your pi** ed off, but I really don't think Microsoft would "hack" your system to do an automatic update - most of their updates are for their ease in dealing with MS problems :) Try a Safe Mode Boot (think it's F8 for your system), and attempt a system restore (hope it was turned on) to an earlier date. If that doesn't work, take it to your local computer shop - shouldn't cost more than $100 to recover your 4TB (why is that all internal?) HDD. Your external drives should be fine. I also have to say (and this goes for everyone reading this) that if your business is computer based, keep your main computer off line - break down and buy a cheaper one you can use as a "stunt double". Honestly though: I hope you can get it working alright!

Go into your Control Panel by first clicking on the Start Button.

Then click on the Control Panel icon located in the right column of the Start Menu.

If your Start Menu is set to the Classic View, then begin by clicking on the Start Button.

Then click on Settings, then click on the Control Panel icon to open up the Control Panel.

Now, Double click on the System icon to open up the System Properties window.

Then click on the Automatic Updates tab located at the top of the screen.

Locate the Turn off automatic updating. I want to update my computer manually choice.

Then use your mouse to select this Manual Windows Update setting.

You can also uncheck this setting to turn automatic updating back on at a later time.

Now click the OK button to save your settings and exit the System Properties window.

And then close the Control Panel to return back to your Window session.

Well, Ryan, go into your control panel, click on Automatic Updates, and click on Turn off automatic updates.
It should take care of the program. You can always go in at any time to set up a regular automatic update time whenever you choose.

you leave your computer open to all kinds of trash if you don't update it and any one can get it from there .just clean your temp files when needed .theres so many updates now from a fresh start you would have to at least 3-4 times clean up the files used to down load .

And these updates are critical for your computer.....your computer will be vulnerable to attacks if you don't receive the updates. You need them or what point is there in owning a computer and trying to look after it. And you need them from MS website too.
