Well you body definately needs fats for survival first and foremost! Saturated fats are bad for you and your body doesnt need these. They come in the form of being hard at room temperature and mainly come from animal products or animals themselves! Unsaturated fats are the good guys and can be found specificaly in liquid form at room temperature. These consist of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. polyunsatured fats are the best, consisting of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids which the body needs. Monounsaturated fatty acids contain omega 9 fatty acids that the body doesnt need, but its not realy harmful for the body in abundance anyways. Unsaturated fats also cary less cholesterol then Saturated fats. Hope this helps.

We all need some fat for our body to function properly. Unsaturated fats are healthier than saturated fats, thus this is why if you look on something like Flora at the fats it is separated into saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated. Polyun.... is slightly healthier than monouns..... fat. Where possible, saturated fat should be lowered/removed and unsaturated fat used as a replacement.

A simple answer would be Hydrogen. Saturated fats are Saturated with Hydrogen. Saturated fatty acids have all the hydrogen the carbon atoms can hold. Unsaturated have carbons that are open for more bonds.

Saturated fats are more harmful to the body. See the wiki site.

Fats are essentially long chains of carbon molecules with hydrogens hanging off them and a carboxylic acid at one end.

Saturated fats means there are no double or triple bonds between the carbons.

The unsaturated fats may have one or two or many (hence poly-unsaturated)

Eat polyunsaturated fats. They are good for your cell membranes and prevent (to a slight degree) you from getting diabetes.
