I have xp pro. During the start up it asks me to enter the username and password It used to display an icon?

I recall that, clicking on the icon, start-up used to proceed. And I would prefer that. Now, which I don't like is, it asks me for te user name and password (my user name appears as a default and I keep the password blank and hit enter). How can I get back to icon version?

go to control panel - users -advance tab then uncheck the last option

Open User Accounts in Control Panel, here you click on "Change the way users log on or off" select "Use the welcome screen" check box. this solves your problem.
